Bordeaux is more and more accessible by air due to the presence and the developement of the Bordeaux Merignac international airport. With more than 5 million passengers annually, the airport has 3 terminals and 14 national links connecting Bordeaux with French major cities like Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulon. Recently, the low cost airline EasyJet has opened a new Bordeaux-Marseille line which is operating since March 2016.
In addition, european and international delegates can get to Bordeaux by this airport. There are 35 international lines connecting Bordeaux with Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Munich, Oslo, Porto or Rome. Today, there are 26 airlines companies conected to the Bordeaux Merignac international airport, including Aegean, AirFrance, British Airways, EasyJet, Iberia, KLM, RyanAir, Volotea and Turkish Airlines.
Furthermore, the railway connects Bordeaux to Paris in about 3,5 hours and it will be just 2 hours in 2017 with the opening of the LGV (Ligne à Grande Vitesse or High Speed Line). The Saint-Jean railway station connects Bordeaux to Lyon, Marseille and Nantes with the Intercity network. Every year, 11 million passengers pass through this station and they can easily reach the city center of Bordeaux by tram and bus. Regarding the access by the motorway, Bordeaux is accessible from : the A10 (Paris) in the North, the A62 (Mediterranean) in the South, the A63 and A65 (Pyrenees and Iberian Peninsula) in the west and the A89 (The Transeuropéenne) in the East that connects Bordeaux and Lyon via the Central Massif and Clermont-Ferrand.
