International Congresses
In 2014, Bordeaux was ranked 125th in the ICCA world ranking, organizing 19 rotating international congresses. It’s important to be noted here that the overall trend has dropped down for 5 years. Indeed, in 2010 Bordeaux was ranked 83rd, hosting 22 congresses. In 2011, 26 congresses were identified and made Bordeaux on the 79th place worldwide. The number of hosted conferences and position in the world rankings were fairly stable in 2012 and 2013, with respectively 23 and 24 congresses organized and 97th and 100th worldwide ranking.
Regarding the French destinations, in 2014 Bordeaux is the 6th MICE destination after Paris, Aix-Marseille, Lyon, Nice and Toulouse. If we refer to the ICCA ranking achieved in 2014, it is interesting to note that the target set by the city of Bordeaux to become the third destination of congress in France is a realistic ambition. In 2015, Bordeaux received some important events. For example, the International Congress of Intelligent Transport Systems brought together nearly 8,000 delegates in October 2015, when the world championships of French billiards in December 2015 brought together several thousand spectators.
