
Convention Bureau
The Bordeaux Convention Bureau is part of the Tourism and Congress Office of Bordeaux. It works with an average annual budget of €300,000, divided between 50% subsidies from the city and the metropole and another 50% of contributions and memberships of private partners working on business tourism. The Convention Bureau is composed of a chairman Eric Dulong, a director Hélène Fourquet and two projects managers Nathalie Beale and Amélie Dechenais.
Regarding the role of the Bordeaux Convention Bureau, they accompany the bidding process in organizing international congresses and ensure the promotion of the destination abroad in the field of business tourism.
The Bordeaux Convention Bureau is present at every stages of the choice process for congresses in Bordeaux. They offer free inspection visit to the congress organizer to show them the characteristics and advantages of the city, this step is crucial in the final choice of the organizer.
The Convention Bureau helps them with supporting documents and monitoring of the bidding projects. They can respond to solicited applications but also postulates rotating conferences directly.
Note that there are three kinds of candidacies to host a conference:
- a structure that wants to organize their event in the city voluntarily,
- a member of an association or professional ambassador who is lobbying to host a congress in their city, - and a prospective candidacy from the Convention Bureau.
